Chapter Eight

Flushed and exhausted, she lay limp across his desk. He lifted his head and rested his chin on her belly. His fingers stroked her abdomen softly. “You are so soft, and you go on forever.” He moved the fingers that were still inside her, and she groaned as she arched against him.

“Aren’t you missing out on a lot of work?” she muttered.

He chuckled. “Already done. I read all the prospectus this morning. I was energized.”

“Uh-huh. I was almost stalked in the elevator. Thanks for that.”

Cassian was serious. “Who?”

“Just a fox shifter and her companion.”

He frowned. “What did they do?”

“Nothing but fixated on me and started to watch as I moved. She was working her way up to hitting on me, but if I didn’t smell like something scary had just been using me as a lollipop, it wouldn’t have been an issue.”

He frowned. “You think I am scary?”

“I know you are, but if I were worried, my thighs wouldn’t be on your shoulders. And we would not be having a polite chat.”

He grinned. “True.”

There were a lot of deadly-looking teeth in that grin, but it was just him. That was what her mate looked like.

She smiled. “Help me up. Wait. Get your fingers out of me and help me up.”

He withdrew his fingers with a distinctly wet sound and cleaned them up while he helped her sit up. There was something about being naked while he was completely clothed right down to the suit jacket. She nibbled at her lower lip as she mused that he was a neat eater.

He set her on the desk and buried his face between her breasts, giving each nipple a soft tug.

She shivered and waited until he finished, stroking her fingers through his hair.

He let her go with a loud smack, and her body was simmering again. She checked her watch and sighed that it was three-twenty. “Lovely. I have a lot of work to do before I am done.”

He grinned. “Really?”

She slumped. “No, I am done for the day. Just have to do cleanup, and everything is set up for Monday morning.”

He nuzzled her neck. “Then, stay and play.”

“You have work to do.”

“I have done it. I am done until Monday.”

She tilted her head for a moment while his lips teased her until she felt his hand creeping up her thigh. “Nope. No more playtime. I am still working.”

She tugged at his head and stroked his jaw. “Off.”

He grumbled. “You need to take more time for yourself.”

“I do. After work.”

He sighed. “You are going out with friends after work.”

“Yeah. Oh. How do I get into your apartment when I come back?”

“I will leave word with the doorman.” He grabbed her panties from the pile of her clothing and slid them up her legs.

“I can dress myself. I have been doing it since I was three.”

“I am learning how to care for you. I need to practice.” He was serious. “Stand up.”

She eased toward him, and her panties settled in place.

He looked down. “Looks like five pieces to go.
